This track is an example of simulated data modelled for the ATLAS detector on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. The Higgs boson is produced in the collision of two protons at 14 TeV and quickly decays into four muons, a type of heavy electron that is not absorbed by the detector. The tracks of the muons are shown in yellow.Scientists were plenty busy this year, with landing the 1-ton rover Curiosity on Mars, announcing the discovery of what is likely the Higgs boson and even revealing a little-dirty secret in research.

I really think that 2012 is a huge year for mankind. There were so many things happening at once and it all seemed so crazy and surreal. Who better to thank than the guys who made it all real. These men are the brightest of the bunch and its only rightful to acknowledge them.

Thank you for sharing things like this. Cheers to these great minds and hope they live for years to come. I even made a dissertation about this
